1. Information We Do Not Collect
Unlike conventional online network tools, Mydnsspeedtest does not operate intermediary proxy servers that capture your DNS traffic. When you run a benchmark:
- We do not record the test hostnames resolved by your browser.
- We do not log your DNS query payloads or IP addresses on our servers.
- We do not track individual user browsing habits across sessions.
2. Client-Side Browser Execution
When performing a speed test, your web browser issues standard HTTPS requests directly to third-party public resolvers (such as Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, AdGuard, Mullvad, etc.). These requests are governed by each provider's respective privacy policy:
- Cloudflare 1.1.1.1: Committed to a 24-hour log purge policy and KPMG privacy audits.
- Quad9 9.9.9.9: Swiss non-profit jurisdiction with strict zero-PII logging commitments.
- DNS.SB: Strict German and European GDPR data protection standards.
- Mullvad: Swedish zero-logging architecture.
3. Local Storage Usage
Mydnsspeedtest utilizes standard HTML5 localStorage strictly on your local device to preserve client preferences:
- Theme Preference: Storing your preference for Dark Mode or Light Mode.
- Custom Resolver Endpoints: Storing any private DoH URLs (e.g. Pi-hole or AdGuard Home) that you manually configure in the Options drawer. This data remains on your machine and is never transmitted to our servers.
4. Web Analytics (Google Analytics GA4)
We use Google Analytics to monitor aggregated website traffic patterns, page load performance, and browser compatibility. To respect your privacy:
- IP addresses are anonymized before processing.
- We do not associate analytics records with individual user identities.
- You can prevent Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or enabling Do-Not-Track (DNT).
5. Third-Party Links & External Content
Our website provides setup guides for third-party software and links to external documentation (e.g., IETF RFC standards). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.
